Karen Harding – “Say Something” [Debut Single]

Co-written and produced by the immensely talented MNEK, “Say Something” features 22 year-old Karen Harding’s powerful R&B vocals with MNEK’s bassy garage beats and old-school house magic. “I want to bring what Whitney Houston brought to ’80s and ’90s R&B to house,”  explains the British songstress—and true to her words, “Say Something” sounds remarkably like a classic Whitney Houston jam. Check it out!

“Say Something” arrives October 19th via Method Records (home to Disclosure) .

Grimes – “Go” featuring Blood Diamonds [Official Video]

Claire Boucher, aka Grimes, unleashes the official video for “Go” the track co-written and produced by fellow Canadian artist Blood Diamonds. The hyperactive and surreal video was directed by Grimes and her brother Mac Boucher under the name Roco-Prime.

In Claire’s own words: “It’s our take on Dante’s inferno. The circles of hell reflect more contemporary issues though. We shot a bunch at the salton sea which is basically an apocalyptic wasteland filled with dead fish because of human carelessness, the bullet hole hallway a la korn freak on a leash etc etc. If you look closely you can find clues. Haha, but in the usual fashion it is also abstract enough to just be a trippy visual accompaniment to the song.”

Trying to understand Grimes’ thought or visual process is like trying to find any rational explanation for The Matrix movies—so I won’t even try. With that being said… I leave you with a quote by Morpheus that I think rationalizes this gorgeous visual mess: “What happened, happened and couldn’t have happened any other way”  :)

Sohodolls – “Talk Of The Town” [New Single]

Sohodolls

Listen to ‘Talk Of The Town’ the brand new single by London’s electro-pop band, Sohodolls! Led by the beautifully talented Maya Von Doll, Sohodolls’ new track is a dark and broody synthpop tune with an 80′s New-Wave flair sublimely anchored by Von Doll’s lush and dreamy, Kylie-esque vocals. The track recently had its debut on EQMusicBlog where Von Doll commented on the harsh reality that inspired the song.

“The inspiration for the sound of the track was the ‘Drive’ movie soundtrack and John Carpenter. Lyrically, the song is about rape culture and how it’s led to teenage suicides recently, something I’m passionate talking about.”

Intense…and brave! Listen!

STEED LORD – “CURTAIN CALL” [Official Video]

Icelandic synthpop-trio STEED LORD (Mega, Kali, and Eddie) delivers a fashionable visual treat for their latest single, “Curtain Call.” In the video, Directed by Einar Egilsson, we see lead-singer Kali in a stunning, avant-garde collection of chic ensembles roaming the streets of L.A as she gets the courage to finally draw the curtains on a ill-fated love affair. “Mending broken hearts is like puzzle, Curtain Call, Don’t wanna be still in love with you, here are my last words we are through”  Kali gently sings above the lush, sensual chorus.

“Curtain Call” has been in heavy rotation around here since we premiered the track back in January (here) and this video is simply just an added bonus to what is certainly one of the best tracks to emerge this year. As always, we can’t wait to hear (and see) what’s next to come from the L.A-Based trio.

“Curtain Call” is taken from the upcoming album “The Prophecy Pt. 2”

Robyn – “Be Mine” [Verschwende Deine Jugend Remix]

Legendary electronic duo Röyksopp and Sweden’s reigning Queen Robyn take over New York City’s Pier 97 today for their massive #DoItAgain Tour. To celebrate this glorious event I have attached below a rare (kinda) bootleg remix of Robyn’s 2005 classic, “Be Mine.” Robyn’s version always had a sense of frailty to it’s lyrics and sound; this remix in the other hand turns the song upside-down by infusing a menacing pulsing-synth throughout it’s run adding a sense of obsession to the original track. Click HERE to grab the free download.

Are you attending any of Röyksopp & Robyn’s shows? Share your thoughts below and let us know what you think of their live gig!

Enjoy!

The exceptionally talented UK songstress MOKO is back yet again with another smashing, 90s-inspired dance tune called, “With You.” The track, produced by Two Inch Punch  is a thunderous summer groove with pitched up vocal cuts and a thick bass that shares the same energetic house vibe as her previous single, “Your Love.” We love this!

Röyksopp & Robyn – “Monument” [Video Premiere]

Röyksopp & Robyn unveil the official video for the epic, “Monument” off their recently released mini album, ‘Do It Again.’ The interstellar video was directed by Max Vitali who also directed Roby’s Dancing On My Own, Call Your Girlfriend, Hang With Me, Indestructible  and Be Mine.

Max Vitali: “The video is about exploring the space around you and in you and finding your own space within it all. Half real, half fantasy. The way I see film is as a hybrid of technology and emotions, and hopefully there’s an artistic vision there as well. In a way that is what Röyksopp & Robyn also do, they merge something real with something computer generated to create bigger landscapes than possible without the help of technology.”
