Eliot Sumner – “Information” [Official Video]

Following its debut back in June, Eliot Sumner (aka I Blame Coco, aka Sting’s daughter) premiers the official video for “Information.” The track is taken from the just released 4-track EP of the same name. In the video, directed by photographer Eliot Lee Hazel, we see Sumner alone in the dessert (thoughts of David Lynch’s ‘Lost Highway’ come to mind) accosted by two vintage muscle cars.

“The video is a representation of the self, alone and vulnerable in a dark void,”   Sumner tells Rolling Stone. ‘Information’ is a breakup song,”  she continues. “It’s about not understanding the situation. With social networks these days, everyone needs to know everything, all the time. But the problem is, people are so used to short snippets of information that no one has any attention span any more. I don’t, anyway. It’s about a quest to know everything.”

The Information – EP is out today via Cherrytree/Interscope.

Foster The People – “Best Friend” [Dim Sum Remix]

French DJ\Producer Dim Sum re-imagines Foster The People’s glossy, horn-driven “Best Friend” as a groovy, summer jam on this bouncy, nu-disco take on the track. Pure summer vibes on this one. Listen!

Klaxons – “Show Me a Miracle” [Official Video]

Klaxons release their new album ‘Love Frequency’ on June 16th alongside new single Show Me A Miracle. The band reveal their otherworldly video below, a technicolour trip that sees the band morphed between a number of animated states, all delivered through a filter of 90’s vintage inspired Lawnmower Man imagery. Check out the trippy video below!

Talking to NME earlier this year, Jamie Reynolds described the sound of the new album: It covers leftfield electronica and pop. It’s where we always said we were gonna place ourselves – it just took us a while to learn how to get there.”

The Dø – “Keep Your Lips Sealed” [New Track!!]

After the release of their magnificent 2011 album Both Ways Open Jaws;  a record we raved about many times on the blog; French-Finish duo The Dø returns with the brand new single, “Keep Your Lips Sealed” off their yet untitled upcoming third album.

We absolutely love The Dø’s use of live instruments in their music and “Keep Your Lips Sealed” is just another great reminder of how innovated the duo is with their musical tools and productions. The harmonious indie-tinged “Keep Your Lips Sealed” features tambourines, horns, melodic synth and an inescapable marching drumroll throughout the song that adds a sense of thrill and danger to the eccentric track. Simply amazing, check it out!

Nu Music: Hockeysmith – “Hesitate” [Official Video + But Blood EP]

Sister duo Hockeysmith (Annie and Georgie Hockeysmith) have steadily been building a name as one of the UK’s most intriguing new bands; sonically they sound like nothing else out there–so that’s been a huge plus. Their haunting, interweaving melodies combined with static, numbing synth, punk-guitars and dream-pop beats make it almost impossible to categorize the duo into a single genre—but it all works. The mixture of digital and live instrumentation works wonderfully to create  a unique, bewitching, riveting kind of sound.

Stream their brilliant, sonically inescapable But Blood – EP below and watch the video for the hypnotizing single,“Hesitate.”

The But Blood-EP arrives May 26.

After releasing two back-to-back albums of orchestral\classical material (2011’s Night Of Hunters and 2012’s Gold Dust) Red-headed siren and piano goddess Tori Amos returns with the brand new single, ‘Trouble’s Lament’ from her upcoming fourteenth studio album, Unrepentant Geraldines. The new single marks her return to contemporary-pop; and what a great, surprising return! ‘Trouble’s Lament’ tells the story of a woman cast out into the world in search of new place to call home. “Trouble needs a home girls, trouble needs a home. She fell out with Satan, now she’s on the run” Tori sings.

The track has a groovy, sinister arrangement with a southern vibe that in writing might not sound like a Tori Amos’ concoction (and it’s not); but as soon as you hear Tori’s signature piano keys, and her graceful, honey-coated vocals easily gliding along the verses, you’ll immediately realize that ‘Trouble’s Lament‘ is an undeniable Tori Amos song. We ABSOLUTELY love it!

Some words from Tori about the single:

“Having been born in North Carolina, the South walks with me wherever I am in the world, I can’t get it out of my DNA. I don’t know if it’s a genetic thing, because my mother’s side, so far back, is from the Eastern Cherokee nation. So it’s really in the blood. It’s almost like you listen to the land speaking to you. And wherever I am I can hear the South calling me.   I really like the idea that trouble was a young woman….I see her on my travels a lot. And maybe I knew her many years ago when I was in my twenties.”

Unrepentant Geraldines arrives on May 13th.

Premiere: KITTEN – “Money” [New Video]

KITTEN has finally dropped the video for the brand new track, ‘Money.’ The band’s lead singer (and rock-goddess in the making), Chloe Chaidez has been teasing the arrival of the video via the band’s Instagram with a few sexy, black-and-white photos of the shoot for about a week now. Well, the video is finally here and well…it’s ALL kinds of awesome! The video features Chaidez and Ariel Pink hanging out in a cheap hotel room, smoking and boozing (probably high as a kite too, LOL) while Chloe takes random dips in the hotel pool. The video plays like a Spring Breakers missing scene; I only wish it starred James Franco’s movie character ‘Alien’ instead of Ariel Pink.

Chaidez tells Pitchfork:

In the process of recording the Kitten album we kept coming up with really cool ideas/beats that didn’t quite fit but  were really where I was at the moment.  Old Missy Elliot, Arca, Drake, Future, Yeezus, etc…I thought it might be a cool idea to release a few of the tracks. Just a way let loose and have a good time making music with different friends while waiting for the album to come out. Ariel stopped by for the video and we just shot us hanging out together. This video was directed by Kaitlin Christy. She’s a student at NYU and a close friend. It was a shot at an old Hollywood motel for about $300 and we had a great time making it.

Sonically, ‘Money’ doesn’t sound like your typical KITTEN production; its more in tune with a Crystal Castles’ industrial-jam, mixed-in with Missy Elliot’s ‘Pass That Dutch’ by way of the Ying Yang Twins’ ‘Whisper Song.’ It’s certainly different, but oh so f**king cool as well.

Let us know what you think of ‘Money’ and it’s video?! Leave your comments below!

KITTEN’s self-titled debut album arrives May 27th.
