“What I Like” is just a cute bedroom jam about hanging out and messing around and falling in love. It’s just me fantasizing about living by the beach with someone and just falling in love. We found an old VHS camera at our house and rented a room for the night in a hotel and shot the video with my two friends and director Ryan Andrews, who does all my videos. We ordered pizza and partied and played around with Roxy (the dog).
“What I Like” is a production by DJ\Producer J£ZUS MILLION and is taken from Charli XCX’s debut album, True Romance arriving on April 15th.
Electro-Goth-Pop princess Charli XCX is back with another stellar video and track. The melodic new single “You (Ha Ha Ha),” samples Gold Panda’s instrumental “You” track. The single originally premiered on BBC a few weeks back.
About the video, Charli comments:
“We’d been heavily influenced by the world of Tumblr superstars and the quick click, pop-tastic world of the internet in my previous videos, so this time we decided to look elsewhere,” she writes. “We’d been watching a lot of grindhouse movies, mostly with strong female leads like The Pom Pom Girls and Coffy, and there seemed to be a bizarre cross over from that genre of cinema and today’s world of pop. Shooting the video in a gun factory seemed like the perfect grindhouse setting for a kick ass, girl power story, with super pretty girls swapping the bullets for lipstick. Cute!””
Charli is currently working and writing with Miike Snow‘s Andrew Wyatt and Clams Casino’s Michael Volpe, among others on her yet untitled debut album schedule for the spring.
Watch as charli and her gun-wielding girl crew party inside a factory in the video for “You (Ha Ha Ha)”.
