KELIS – “Rumble” [Breach Remix]

London-based DJ\Producer Ben Westbeech better know as BrEaCh has turned Kelis’ new break-up tune “Rumble” into a joyous and vibrant house-thumper! The original track has been stripped of it’s jazzy roots and replaced with pulsing synths and classic house beats to make it into a club-worthy jam! Kelis’ voice belongs on the dancefloor! This track makes her sound like a certifiable dance-diva!

“Rumble” is taken from Kelis’ upcoming album FOOD arriving on April 22. Breach’s remix will be available on April 14 as part of the “Rumble” single release. OR! you can Shazam the remix with your phone to receive it as a FREE download. Do it!

With just a few months away from the release of her brand new album, FOOD– Kelis has shared the album’s artwork and a few interesting details about the vibe of the new record. Primarily, that the album was produced and recorded at Dave Sitek’s house with a huge live band!

“It’s full band,” Kelis tells HipHopHollywood. “It’s got a horn section, strings and an orchestra – it’s very dramatic and orchestral.

Sounds like FOOD is going to be a complete departure from the electro-pop-dance sound she masterfully achieved in 2010’s Flesh Tone. By now that should be expected though, Kelis has successfully reinvented her sound on every record…and that’s why we love her!

Watch the clip below for more details and listen to FOOD’s lead single “Jerk ribs.”

FOOD is expected to drop in the UK on April 21 and a day later in the US.

Are you excited for the new Kelis record?!

Dan Black feat. Kelis – “Hearts” [Official Video]

The very talented and wonderfully creative Dan Black returns to music with ‘Hearts’ the brand new single taken from his upcoming, presumably titled new album, Do Not Revenge due out later this year. The record follows his 2009 debut ((un)), which spawned the hit singles ‘Symphonies’ and ‘U + Me.’

The catchy and symphonic electro-pop ‘Hearts’ features none other than the incomparable, Kelis! Dan Black recently revealed to ELLE Magazine that the track was originally produced for Kelis’ upcoming album, FOOD.

Well, we were already working on songs for her album. After I wrote one of the songs [Hearts], I thought, this is so where I want to be going with my solo stuff. I just loved it. So, nervously, I asked her if I could use it, presuming she’d say no. But, magically, she said yes! I am a huge fan of hers.

The cool and creative accompanying video for ‘Hearts’ was shot over 24 hours on a rooftop in Paris. Kelis makes a cameo via moving posters and photographs. Co-staring in the video are also Dan Black’s furry friends (Plush Monkey and Rabbit) whom we actually met during Black’s last performance at Le Baron Chinatown in New York City back in 2012 (here).

This is yet another highly anticipated record we can’t wait to hear this year! Check it out!

Kelis – “Call On Me” aka “Jerk Ribs” [NEW TRACK!!]

Three years after the incredible release of the album Flesh Tone, Kelis marks her return with the brand new single, “Call on Me” a tribal, R&B flavored jam produced by TV on the Radio’s, Dave Sitek.

“Call on Me” feels like a glorious fusion of Solange’s soulful R&B tunes and Janelle Monáe’s funky, neo-soul sounds. Take a listen!

What’s your thoughts on the new song?!

UPDATE: Apparently the title of the song is not ‘Call on Me’ but ‘Jerk Ribs’??

Duran Duran, Beth Ditto And Kelis!

My world will always come to a complete stop whenever I hear the names  Beth Ditto, Kelis or David Lynch. Today, was that day. Video from the American Express concert series “Unstaged” was released today.

The clips below are from the Duran Duran “Unstaged” live show directed by none other than one of my old time favorite movie director “David Lynch” (Twin Peaks, Mullholand Dr., Inland Empire).

The Iconic Duran Duran was joined on stage for the VEVO live broadcast by Beth Ditto to perform “Notorious” (from the 1986 album “Notorious”) and with Kelis to perform “Come Undone” (taken from “The Wedding Album” a favorite song of mine btw) and “The Man Who Stole a Leopard” taken from their new, Mark Ronson produced 13th album! called “All You Need Is Now” Out now.
