Premiere: KITTEN – “Money” [New Video]

KITTEN has finally dropped the video for the brand new track, ‘Money.’ The band’s lead singer (and rock-goddess in the making), Chloe Chaidez has been teasing the arrival of the video via the band’s Instagram with a few sexy, black-and-white photos of the shoot for about a week now. Well, the video is finally here and well…it’s ALL kinds of awesome! The video features Chaidez and Ariel Pink hanging out in a cheap hotel room, smoking and boozing (probably high as a kite too, LOL) while Chloe takes random dips in the hotel pool. The video plays like a Spring Breakers missing scene; I only wish it starred James Franco’s movie character ‘Alien’ instead of Ariel Pink.

Chaidez tells Pitchfork:

In the process of recording the Kitten album we kept coming up with really cool ideas/beats that didn’t quite fit but  were really where I was at the moment.  Old Missy Elliot, Arca, Drake, Future, Yeezus, etc…I thought it might be a cool idea to release a few of the tracks. Just a way let loose and have a good time making music with different friends while waiting for the album to come out. Ariel stopped by for the video and we just shot us hanging out together. This video was directed by Kaitlin Christy. She’s a student at NYU and a close friend. It was a shot at an old Hollywood motel for about $300 and we had a great time making it.

Sonically, ‘Money’ doesn’t sound like your typical KITTEN production; its more in tune with a Crystal Castles’ industrial-jam, mixed-in with Missy Elliot’s ‘Pass That Dutch’ by way of the Ying Yang Twins’ ‘Whisper Song.’ It’s certainly different, but oh so f**king cool as well.

Let us know what you think of ‘Money’ and it’s video?! Leave your comments below!

KITTEN’s self-titled debut album arrives May 27th.

KITTEN – “Like A Stranger – EP”

Electro-pop-rock band Kitten fronted by the extraordinary Chloe Chaidez unleashes their third EP entitled Like A Stranger. The incredible new EP contains six-tracks of glitzy, shimering, pop-rock tunes that recall the hazy, new-wave-pop nostalgia of 80’s band like The Cure and New Order with the sensible pop-rock elements of Fleetwood Mac, Pat Benatar and Kate Bush. Tracks Yesterday, Doubt, Graffiti Soul and the title track are standouts here. Take a listen!

Be sure to catch Kitten in their North American tour alongside Charli XCX! Tour Dates below.

The Like A Stranger EP is out now!

Kitten – “Japanese Eyes” [Official Video]

“Is this love, love, love I’m feeling,  Love or the wrecking ball.”

A while ago we introduced you to LA-based, synth-pop-rock band KITTEN and their new-wave, rock anthem Japanese Eyes (Here) Well, we have the video now!

Check out the moves on lead singer Chloe Chaidez as she serves some glam in the official video for the killer track, Japanese Eyes!

I’m dying to see this band live. Chloe reminds me of a young PJ Harvey. Love her!

KITTEN – “G#” [Video Premiere]

Check out KITTEN‘s cinematic new video for the gritty, hazy and nostalgic killer tune, G#.

Lead singer Chloe Chaidez recently told Spinner:

‘G#’ is a big song that needed a big video, It feels like a mini-movie. Kind of “Apocalypse Now” meets “The Outsiders,” to us anyway.” “People keep asking us where we found the actors, but they’re all our close friends and are actually real-life couples, It made the whole process of shooting that much more fun. We shot for three days in the extreme desert heat of the Salton Sea, which could have been a bitch, but it ended up being a great time. We all knew that we were making something really cool.”

G# is taken from KITTEN‘s exceptional EP, ‘Cut it Out.’

KITTEN – “Japanese Eyes” and “Cut It Out – EP”

Introducing LA-based synth-pop group KITTEN fronted by the extraordinary CHLOE CHAIDEZ!  The band formed by Chaidez, Andy Miller and Chris Vogel have been building a well deserved buzz due to their contagious synth-pop-rock sound and electrifying live shows.

On their new Cut It Out – EP (out now) The band showcases a sonically softer side with two gorgeous, dreamy and sensual electronic numbers that could be best described as Karen O meets Chromatics meets Charli XCX.

The video for the EP’s titled track was loosely inspired by early John Hugh’s flicks and was shot primarily in alleys and parts of LA underground hot spot The Smell. The imagery of the video and characters captures the essence of nightlife and longing of the track to perfection. The midnight synth-pop b-side of the EP, Sugar, has an equal sound appeal but with a much simpler video— just a simple slow moving image of a girl smoking a cigarette(?).

The band recently debuted a killer, danceable, nu-wave, sythn-pop-rock anthem called Japanese Eyes that simply blew my mind. The melodic guitar riff, synth work, along with Chaidez‘ feisty vocals will make anyone an instant fan of this electric and exciting new band.

Japanese Eyes and the Cut It Out – EP  are now available via iTunes.

Kitten is currently on tour and will be appearing at the Mercury Lounge in NYC tonight (7/27)! Check HERE for more details.
